Zoning Hearing Board members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a four-year term.  Zoning Board members listen to appeals on the validity of zoning ordinances, map or any decision of the Zoning Officer.  In addition, the Board has the power to grant variances and special exceptions to the Ordinances.  Hearings are scheduled, when necessary on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Township Administration Building, 6 Township Drive, Cheyney, PA.  If there is no business before them, the meeting is canceled.

Appeal No. 2-2010
Continued Hearing of J. Ward Guilday for property located at 67 & 75 Creek Road & 258 Old Gradyville Road

DECISION:   Mr. Cannon made a motion to approve the list of variances and special exceptions, and rather than reading off the entire list, per the submission with the caveat, Approval for Lots l, 2, 4, and 5 as they sit.

Appeal No. 3-2010
Appeal of Cheyney University for a variance regarding off-street parking requirements in order to construct a new four-story 401 bed dormitory

DECISION:   Mr. Cannon made a motion that we agree that for Cheyney University’s use for their parking, that it would be reasonable to have their parking as one spot for every 3.7 students plus what is required for staff and administration and/or faculty. Mr. Morley seconded the motion with all members voting “aye”.

 

 

Appeal No. 4-2010
Appeal of Jonathan Polanich for a variance in order to construct a deck

DECISION:   Mr. Morely made a motion based on the evidence given by Mr. Polanich to approve his request for a variance to the backyard setback of 25 feet encroaching by 14 feet with his deck.  Mr. Cannon seconded the motion with all members voting “aye”.
